India’s rising badminton star Priyanshu Rajawat delivered a dominant performance to secure his spot in the Round of 16 at the YONEX Swiss Open 2025.

He made light work of Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi, cruising to a 21-10, 21-11 victory in straight games.

Priyanshu now faces a tough challenge against France’s Toma Junior Popov in the next round.

Malvika Bansod Falls Short in a Close Encounter

Malvika Bansod put up a valiant fight against Michelle Li, but the experienced Canadian managed to edge past her in a nail-biting decider. The final scoreline read 20-22, 21-14, 21-19 in favor of Li, who benefited from several lucky points in the closing stages.

Despite the loss, Malvika’s performance was commendable, and she will look to bounce back stronger.

Men’s Singles (MS)

• S. Sankar Muthusamy impressed with a 21-5, 21-16 demolition of Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen in just 38 minutes.

• Kidambi Srikanth edged past fellow Indian HS Prannoy in a thrilling match, winning 23-21, 23-21 in 48 minutes.

• Kiran George fell short against Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke, despite a strong start. He lost 21-17, 10-21, 10-21 in a 74-minute battle.

• Ayush Shetty suffered a 15-21, 19-21 defeat against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto.

• Pusarla V. Sindhu was stunned by Denmark’s Julie Dawall Jakobsen, losing 17-21, 19-21 in 39 minutes.

• Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj went down fighting against Denmark’s Line Christophersen, losing 11-21, 17-21.

• Isharani Baruah won an intense all-Indian clash against Aakarshi Kashyap, prevailing 18-21, 21-17, 22-20 in 68 minutes.

Mixed Doubles (XD)

• The Indian pair of Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath dominated Algeria’s Koceila & Tanina Mammeri, winning 21-15, 22-20 in 34 minutes.

• Ashith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh struggled against China’s Zhu Yi Jun and Zhang Chi, losing 10-21, 9-21.

• Ayush Agarwal and Shruti Mishra were overpowered by Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul and Phataimas Muenwong, losing 18-21, 9-21.

Women’s Doubles (WD)

• Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela eased past Aline Müller (Switzerland) and Kelly Van Buiten (Netherlands), winning 21-16, 21-17.

• Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra lost to Turkey’s Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlıcan Inci 11-21, 19-21 in 44 minutes.
