Indian contingent is set to miss the services of Top two Men Singles players, Lakshya Sen [Nursing injury] & Srikanth Kidambi who has opted to not play in the Petronas BWF Super 750 event.
In the Men Singles, India has four player and all have tough first round matches. While one would expect Prannoy to defeat Daren liew from Host nation but its not going to be easy in his local conditions. Prannoy leads the H2H by 6-4 but Daren had won the last encounter.
Sai Praneeth will be up against the WR6 Ginting, although the H2H is 3-4 Praneeth going by the current forms would find it difficult to score the win over the sixth seed. Sameer Verma who has been struggling on the tour has a tough challenge up front as he faces WR8 Christie. Sameer leads the H2H by 2-1 but the last they played was four years ago and a lot has changed since then.
Parupalli Kashyap who could make it to the draw thanks to withdrawals will be up against in form Kwang Hee Heo. It remains to be seen how Kashyap performs in the match
The women singles will see two participants from India which has been a norm, Saina & Sindhu. While Saina is up against Iris Wang from USA, one would expect her to win that match Sindhu will again have a tough one up front. She plays WR10 Chochuwong who is WR10 and Sindhu leads the H2H 5-3 currently. They last played at the world championships in 2021.
The only Indian participation in this category is Satwik-Chirag and they are seeded Seventh, with the top seed withdrawing, their path to Semifinals looks possible should they get better of local pair of Goh & Nur.
This category has four entries from India, the top ranked pair Ashwini & Sikki who will be up against WR5 pair of Chiharu & Nami from Japan. They might find it very difficult to make it to next round. Haritha & Ashna have a tough one up front as they face WR12 pair from South Korea Kim & Jeong.
Srivedya & Ishika the Indo-US pair might consider themselves lucky as they got a walkover from fourth seed a match they might have found difficult to win. Ashwini Bhat & Shikha will face off against Mayu & Wakana the seed fifth of the tournament in the first round.
Two pairs and both in the opposite side of the bracket, while Ponappa & Sumeeth will be up against WR21 Robin & Selena the pair of Juhi & Venkat face the South Koreans and it remains to be seen if they can make it to the next round.
Its an overall a tough draw for Indians and will take an extra effort to make it to the Quarterfinals
