As we know, the craze of the Paris Olympics 2024 is waving high in the air. People are eagerly waiting to see their favourite athletes in action.
When I say action, it resembles one of the most highlighted sports, “Boxing”. It was included in the Olympics in 1904 and since then, it has given a countless amount of memories throughout Olympic campaign. From the USA to Germany, Sweden to Australia, China to Brazil,& Tokyo to Paris, it has reached almost every corner of the globe.

And under the Eiffel Tower, the Boxing Draws are out for the Paris Olympics 2024:-

Indian Participation:

This time we will see 6 Indian boxers in action.

4 Women, 2 Men

Women’s:

50 kg: Nikhat Zareen

54 kg: Preeti Pawar

57 kg: Jaismine Lamboria

75 kg: Lovlina Borgohain

Men’s:

51 kg: Amit Panghal

71 kg: Nishant Dev

Among these six, three have already made it into the R16. Lovlina Borgohain, Amit Panghal, and Nishant Dev. Because in the Paris Olympics, the top 4 seeded in each weight category get a byes in R32 and directly qualify for R16.

Draw of Indian boxers are :-

1. Nikhat Zareen (50kg): Two-time world champion and gold medalist of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games is all set to make her debut at the Paris Olympics. Her Olympic draw is challenging from the R32 itself.

R32: against Maxi Carina Kloetzer of (Germany). If Nikhatwins, then in

R16: Nikhat will face Wu Yu (China), the top-seeded player of the 50kg weight category and current Asian Games gold medalist in the 52kg weight category. If she somehow manages to win in R16, then in QF: She might face Chuthamat Raksat (Thailand) or Sabina Bonokulova(Uzbekistan), both of whom have defeated her earlier at big stages, so hopefully, this time the result won’t be the same.

2. Preeti Pawar (54kg): The Asian Games bronze medalist is ready to make her debut at the Paris Olympics 2024. Her draw is quite tough.

R32: Against Vo Thi Kim Anh (Vietnam), who is alao a Asian games  bronze medalist.

R16: She will face Yeni Arias (Colombia), who is a world silver medalist. So, the race to the quarterfinals is going to be tough for her. If she somehow reaches the quarters, then

QF:- she will face the winner between Tatiana Chagas (Brazil) and Im Ae Ji (Korea).

3. Jasmine Lamboria (57kg): The young and talented boxer is also ready for her debut at the Paris Olympics. She is a bronze medalist from CWG22. But her draw is really very tough. In the very first round, R32: She is going to face Nesthy Petecio of the Philippines. A silver medalist from Tokyo 2020. If she wins, then in R16: She will face the third-seeded Amina Zidani (France), who is presently the European champion in the same category.

QF: If she reaches here, then she will face either Imran Testa (Italy) or Valeria Arboleda (Colombia). So, it’s going to be very hard for the young boxer. She needs to defeat the top-seeded boxers.

4. Lovlina Borgohain (75kg): The bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics in the 69kg weight category. This is Lovlina’s 2nd Olympics participation and everyone expects so much from her. As she directly plays into R16 through a bye,

R16: She will face the young debutant Sunniva Hofstad(Norway). If she wins, which we really want her to win,

QF: She will face Li Qian (China), a two-time Olympic medalistwho beat Lovlina in the Asian Games finals in the same weight category (75kg) in Hangzhou. This one would be tough for her to surpass.

SF: If she reaches the semis, then she might face Khadija (Morocco), the World champion in heavyweight, or Caitlin (Australia), a middleweight silver medalist.

5. Amit Panghal (51kg): A big medal hope for India, but his draw is not easy after the quarters. As he gets a byes in R32, he will directly play in R16.

R16: Amit will face Patrick Chinyemba (Zambia), a bronze medalist of CWG22. Though Amit has beaten him in the Asian Games, time can change things.

QF: He will face Thitisan Panmod (Thailand), a CWG22 silver medalist in the same weight category.

SF: If he reaches here, then he will face the Rio 2016 gold medalist, Hasanboy Dusmatov (Uzbekistan). Which could be a tough one for him, but he has got the potential and we believe in him.

6. Nishant Dev (71kg) :  The only Indian boxer who gets a decent draw at the Paris Olympics. In R32, he gets a bye. In R16: Nishant will face Rodriguez Tenorio (Ecuador). If he wins, then in

QF: He will face Marco Verde (Mexico), who won the gold in the Pan American Games in 2023. If he wins that, then in

SF: Nishant will face either Aslanbek Shymbergenov(Kazakhstan) or Sewon Okazawa (Japan). So, from this draw, we can have high hopes.

All the best to all the boxers.
