Indian leg in BWF calendar is set to begin with SYED MODI INTERNATIONAL 2024 in Lucknow from 26th Nov to 1st Dec , a Super-300 tournament.
This is the 13th edition and the last grade-2 tournament of the year beside ultimate HSBC BWF WORLD TOUR FINALS 2024 that will take place from 11th to 15th of December.
All qualification spot are sealed, thus Babu Banarasi Das indoor stadium has less decorated names this time.
The event offers a total prize money of $210,000 .
INDIAN CHANCES :
Men Singles
Top seed Lakshya sen is the only top 20 player to feature in his category. Priyanshu Rajawat (2nd seed) ,Nhat Nguyen, Kiran George, Justin Hoh are among the potential list.
Draws also includes youngsters like Sankar Subramanian and Aayush Shetty who are ready to make an international impact.
Lakshya Sen who made it to last eight in his previous event China Masters, finding his lost form Sen will look forward to build on the momentum with less competition in Lucknow.
Women Singles
Women’s singles holds some interesting Indian actions ahead.
Former champion and top seed PV Sindhu looks clear favourite to win this , although some bubbling Indian talent will abstract her.
Sindhu faces Asian team Championship sensation Anmol Kharb in opening round. Malvika Bansod seeded 2nd will be eyeing on a fine run with recent shown momentum.
Another upcoming star Anupama Upadhyaya who created buzz last week defeating Beiwen Zhang is also in the draws.
Tasnim, Isharani, Santosh Ramraj are some darkhorses in the event.
Mens Doubles:
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty the no.1 seed in Syed Modi International are searching for their 1st title since winning Thailand Open back in May 2024.
Satchi seems on track with great performance in their comeback tournament reaching semis in last week China Masters.
Women Doubles
WD is expected to be a three way fight as no.1 seed Crasto/ Ponnappa, no.2 seed Jolly/Pullela and WR25 Aimsaard sisters are the three crown contender.
Runners up last year Tanisha/Ashwini will be reaching new career high i.e world number 13 this week and playing together their 1st tournament since Olympics .
Jolly/Pullela are the only Indian qualified for World Tour Finals next week .
They are in the same half as Aimsaard sisters and will be looking for a deep run with crowd backup.
Mixed Doubles:
XD is the sector in which India has realistic chances to grab much awaited title relaying on pairs like Sumeeth/Sikki Reddy(#1), Karunakaran/ Variyath(#2), Crasto/Kapila and Rohan Kapoor/ Ruthvika Shivani Gadde .
Indian camp will go for a possible clean sweep after a relatively disappointing year.
