The oldest and most prestigious badminton tournament Yonex All England Open Badminton Championship 2025 will take place at Utilita arena , Birmingham from 11th to 16th March 2025 .
This is the 115th edition of this S1000 tournament , offering a total prize money of 1,450,000$ .
Indian star shuttler Lakshya Sen , HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu, Malvika Bansod, Satwik/Chirag, Gayatri gopichand/Treesa Jolly, Ashwini/Tanisha, Dhruv/Tanisha, Priya/Shruti and Satish/ Aadya will be seen chasing the glory in a very competitive draw with almost all the big names.
INDIAN DRAW & CHANCES
MENS SINGLES :
2022 runner up Lakshya Sen will face Koki Watanabe of Japan in opening round. The h2h between WR10 Sen and WR11 Koki is 3-1. Looking at the current form its a tough task for Lakshya but if he delivers Jonatan Christie the defending Champion will be his R16 opponent, however jojo’s R32 opponent is Leong Jun Hao (h2h 1-2).
WR30 HS Prannoy will be up against inform Frenchman Toma Junior Popov ranked 18 in the world currently. Another mouth watering clash in the same quarter is among Li Shi Feng and Antony Sinisuka Ginting.
Going deep for Indian MS is very difficult looking at the draws and players current form.
WOMENS SINGLES :
Double Olympic medalist Sindhu faces Yeo(wr22) in the opening round of prestigious All England. She faces WR4 Han Yue next, who is in a bad shape currently. Sindhu’s QFs opponent will be Tunjung most probably.
Another Indian shuttler Malvika Bansood will face WR13 Yeo Jia Min who is in the form of her life recently winning her 1st S300 title.
Looking at the abilities its a cake walk draw for Sindhu ,but her PV Sindhu is all set to face Kim Garecent form tells otherwise. Also she is coming back from a mini injury gap.
MENS DOUBLES :
Satwik/Chirag the only MD duo from India have been drawn against Mads/Daniel in R32. The Danish duo won the only encounter between these two pair. Chiu/Wang the Taiwanese pair will be waiting to challenge Satchi in next round.
Satchi are expected to reach deeper stage of the tournament as the 7th seed are among the title contenders.
WOMENS DOUBLES :
Highest ranked Indian WD pair(wr9) Teresa jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela ’s records are too impressive at All England making back fo back semifinals, they managed to pull upset every edition. This time going as a top 10 pair their R32 opponent will be WR13 Sung/Yu whom they lost their previous and only dwell.
Other Indian pair of Tanisha Cristo/Ashwini Ponnappa will be fighting with WR14 Hsieh/Hung & expected R16 opponent are 7th seed Chinese duo Li/Luo.
For Priya/Shruti it’s going to be a learning experience as they will face top seed Baek/Lee in the opening round it self.
MIXED DOUBLES :
Kapila/Crasto placed in a decent draw where they faces Thai pair Oupthong/Sudjaipraparat in opening round and 8th seed Hiroki/Natsu next.
Rohan Kapoor/Shibani Gadde are up against Ye/Chan whom they defeated in R32 of Orleans Masters, the previous tournament.
WR36 Karunakaran/Aadya are drawn to face 7th seed Guo/Chen.
Indian fans are hopeful for some shuttlers and too hopeless for few 2025 season so far is not good in terms of form, wins and achievements.
Rising talents couldn’t participate due to ranking but this is high time for established name to justify their dominance.
