Indian Athletes Shine at the U20 Asian Athletics Championships

India finished at the 3rd place in Medal Table at the end of the U20 Asian Athletics Championships. Overall a great performance for Indian Athletes with 7 Gold, 11 Silver and 11 Bronze Medals.
The Asian Athletics U20 Championship was held at Dubai from 24th to 27th of April.

Deepanshu Sharma won the first Gold for India in Men’s Javelin Throw with a distance of 70.29 m. Whereas on the second day of the competition, Anurag Singh Kaler (Men’s Shot Put) , Pavana Nagraj (Women’s Long Jump) , Ekta Dey (Women’s 3000m Steeplechase) and Ranvir Singh (Men’s 3000m Steeplechase) made India proud by winning the Gold.

On the third day, Harshit Kumar won the Gold in Men’s Hammer Throw by registering a distance of 66.71m. On the last day of the Games, the 4×400 Women’s Relay Team comprising of Anushka Dattatray Kumbhar, Kanista Deva Shekhar, Sai Sangeetha Dodla and Sandramol Sabu topped the podium.

Also, Laxita Sandilea , Gold Medalist at the U20 Asian Championship last year had to settle for Silver this year.

As far as the Medal Tally is concerned, China Topped it (as expected) with 9 Gold Medals. Japan finished at the second spot. At the U20 Asian Athletics Championships last year held at Yecheon, India grabbed 19 medals with total 6 six and finished at the third spot behind Japan and China.
