Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka were knocked out in the third round of the women’s doubles. Sania Mirza-Lucie Hradecka, the 10th seeded pair, were beaten 6-4, 6-3 by the eighth-seeded American team of Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff.

India opened their account with the trio of Elavenil Valarivan, Ramita and Shreya Agrawal claiming the gold medal in the 10m air rifle team women competition. They beat Denmark’s Anna Nielsen, Emma Koch and Rikke Maeng Ibsen, 17-5 in the gold medal contest.
In men’s air rifle team competition, Indian trio of Rudrankksh Patil, Paarth Makhija and Dhanush Srikanth fell short in their bronze medal match against Croatia, going down 10-16.
The 12-member Indian rifle squad are at the fifth spot in the medals tally.

A four-member Indian table tennis women’s squad – comprising Manika Batra, Archana Kamath, Sreeja Akula and Reeth Rishya – was named for the Commonwealth Games, subject to clearance from the Sports Authority of India. The 129th-ranked Diya Chitale was the standby.
