India had defeated Germany 5-0 yesterday in first tie.
Indian team chose to rest the MS1 Lakshya Sen & MD2 in a strategic move against the Canada team which wasnt expected to pose a challenge to the strong Indian Team. Yesterday on the first day of the competition India had defeated Germany 5-0 to start the campaign in an emphatic manner.
No Lakshya but Srikanth gives India the Lead
The India no1 was not given a start by the Indian contingent which gave Srikanth the opportunity to play the first match. Just like yesterday Srikanth lost the first game 20-22 and cameback to win the next two comfortably.
Its as if Sri just teases the opponent in the first game and then shows his class in the rest two. After losing 20-22 Srikanth went on to close the match with two rather easy games of 21-11 & 21-15. This was their first meeting and Brian who is now ranked 29th in the world had no answers whatsoever to Srikanth’s quick game.
Chirag & Satwik closed match in Straight Games to give India 2-0 lead
India No1 MD pair of Chirag Shetty & Satwik Sairajreddy were in no mood to give their opponents any chance in the match. Pitted against the scratch pairing of Ho-Shue & Lee the World Ranked 9 pair scored a clinical victory 21-12, 21-11 in less than 30 minutes. India will definately be expecting them to maintain the form in the business end of the tournament.
Prannoy made quick work of Sankeerth and Hands India 3-0 Lead
HS Prannoy is too good to be Indian MS3 and he shows that every time he arrives on the court. Prannoy who his famous to have the big scalps in the draw is relishing in the new role of squashing the opponent teams morale with clean victories. After yesterday’s 21-9, 21-9 HSP scored a 21-15 , 21-12 victory in less than 45 minutes.
This was their second meeting with Prannoy winning their last enconter 6 years back in three games. Sankeerth who is now ranked 82 in the world had no answers to Prannoy gameplan.
The India MD3 pair of Krishna & Vishnu proved to be way good for their opponents. India had chosen to give rest to the MD2 pair of Dhruv Kapilla & MR Arjun in this tie. Krishna & Vishnu who are now ranked 46 in the world were up against a 198th ranked pair of Dong & Yakura from Canada. It was always going to be a difficult match for the canadians. The Indians won in straight games 21-15, 21-11 in a quick match which lasted only 35 minutes
Priyanshu completes the whitewash. India wins 5-0
Priyanshu Rajwat who had won the trials held by BAI last month to clinch his place at the Thomas Cup squad showed faith in his abilities.
Playing against a lowly ranked player Victor Lai WR291 Priyanshu won the first game quite comfortably but Lai cameback to win the second one 22-20. Priyanshu corrected his mistakes quickly and looked determined to win the third game, he close it 21-14.
With this India has won all their matches in the both the first tie to make it to the Quarterfinals of Thomas Cup 2022. They will now meet Chinese Taipei in the last round to decide the winner of the group.
