India Men 3×3 Basketball Team qualifies for Main draw at Asia Cup 2022

Indian 3×3 senior basketball team defeats Turkmenistan & Palestine to qualify for main draw.

 

Indian senior team is taking part in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2022 which has 30 teams participating in Singapore. The Indian team is seeded sixth for the tournament and were made to play the qualifying rounds to make it to the main round.

India played both their qualifying matches during the day and came out winning in both the matches. Earlier in the day they defeated Palestine 21-15 and later in the day the team came back to defeat Turkmenistan in a very close match 20-19.

Indian men team includes Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, Prashant Rawat, Manik & Sahaij Sekhon.

In the main draw India has drawn the Top seed Mongolia and fourteenth seed South Korea. The top two will make it to the knockout stages.

India will play both their main draw matches on 9 July, they will be up against South Korea at 4:25pm while will return to the court to face Mongolia at 6:30pm.

The winner of the tournament gets a slot in the 2023 3×3 Basketball World Cup.

The women team however failed to make it to the main draw as they lost to New Zealand 9-17 while they defeated Palestine 22-1 but there was only one spot for the main draw.
