Ahmedabad, March 28, 2025 – Indian players put up a stellar performance in the second round of the M25 Ahmedabad ITF event, with five of them securing spots in the quarterfinals.

The tournament, featuring rising talents from across the world, saw some thrilling matches and a few notable upsets, setting up an exciting last-eight stage.

Biggest Upset: Siddharth Vishwakarma Stuns No. 2 Seed Moeran Buzargi

One of the biggest results of the day was Siddharth Vishwakarma’s impressive 7-6(5), 6-4 victory over second seed Moeran Buzargi (AUS, WR 403). Vishwakarma, ranked 790 in the world, played with immense composure, edging out the Australian in a tightly contested first-set tiebreak before sealing the win in straight sets.

His powerful groundstrokes and aggressive play from the baseline helped him dismantle his higher-ranked opponent.

Emerging Star: Kriish Tyagi Continues Dream Run

Qualifier Kriish Tyagi (IND, UNR) continued his incredible journey in Ahmedabad, securing a come-from-behind victory over Wildcard Nitin Kumar Sinha (IND, 1202) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The young Indian displayed great resilience after dropping the first set, bouncing back with some aggressive tennis to dominate the final two sets. Tyagi, who entered the main draw through qualifying, has now won four consecutive matches in the tournament and will be one to watch in the quarterfinals.

Top Indians Advance: Karan Singh, Aryan Shah, and Chirag Duhan Deliver

Fourth seed Karan Singh (IND, 490) looked in complete control as he breezed past Lucky Loser Rishi Reddy (IND, 1781) 6-3, 6-2. Singh, known for his strong baseline game, kept things simple and dominated the rallies to seal a comfortable victory.

Fifth seed Aryan Shah (IND, 567) also moved into the quarterfinals, defeating fellow Indian Madhwin Kamath (IND, 2073) 6-4, 6-4. Shah’s solid and composed performance saw him fend off Kamath’s challenges, making it another impressive victory for the Indian contingent.

Meanwhile, in one of the toughest battles of the day, Chirag Duhan (IND, 947) upset eighth seed Dev Javia (IND, 606) in a three-set thriller 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. The match saw both players trade blows in long, grinding rallies, but Duhan’s endurance and ability to capitalize on key moments gave him the edge.

Other Key Results

Top seed Jay Clarke (GBR, 298) showed why he’s the highest-ranked player in the draw, completely dismantling Grigoriy Lomakin (KAZ, 874) 6-0, 6-1 in a dominant display. Clarke will now face one of the in-form Indians in the quarterfinals.

Japanese sixth seed Taguchi Ryutaro (JPN, 572) took down qualifier Ishaque Eqbal (IND, 1032) 7-5, 6-1, ending the Indian’s run in the second round.

In another intense battle, third seed Alexandr Binda (ITA, 484) edged past Japan’s Matsuda Ryuki (JPN, 631) in a nail-biting three-setter 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

The quarterfinals will feature five Indian players looking to continue their impressive run in the tournament:
