Kush Maini delivered one of the biggest moments of his racing career on Friday night, clinching pole position for the FIA Formula 2 feature race in Miami after a stunning qualifying performance for ART Grand Prix.
In a fiercely competitive session at the Formula 2 Miami Grand Prix 2026 weekend, the Indian driver produced a brilliant final flying lap of 1:39.888 to edge out Brazilian rookie Rafael Câmara by just 0.033 seconds and secure the second Formula 2 pole position of his career.
The result also marked a significant milestone for Maini, who delivered when the pressure was at its highest during Formula 2’s first-ever visit to Miami. More importantly, this was not a reversed-grid or inherited pole it came through outright pace in a direct qualifying battle against one of the strongest grids in junior motorsport.
For Indian motorsport, it was another major statement from a driver increasingly establishing himself as a genuine contender at the top level of Formula 2. Maini entered the Miami weekend looking to reset momentum after a challenging opening phase of the season and a lengthy two-month gap between race weekends.
