67th National Shooting Championship 2024: Key Highlights and Results

After the remarkable performance by the Indian shooting contingent at the Paris Olympics, Indian shooters are back at the shooting range in the 67th national shooting championships.

Paris Olympics medallists Sarbjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale are among the notable participants.

The star of the championship, who surprised everyone, was Suruchi.

The Haryana teenager dominated the 67th Shooting Nationals, winning three golds in the women’s air pistol senior, junior, and youth competitions, after topping qualification with a score of 585. She won her fourth gold of the tournament in the mixed team event with Samrat Singh.

Rhythm Sangwan also won with silver and bronze in seniors and juniors respectively.

Shahu Tushar Mane clinched the gold medal in the men’s 10m Air Rifle event in a thrilling finale at the 67th National Shooting Championship.

Paris Olympians Sandeep Singh and Arjun Babuta failed to impress, as both shooters were unable to qualify for the finals.

Similarly, APS and Divyansh also did not make the cut.

Also very ordinary outing for Junior World champion Parth Rakesh Mane.

Olympian Raiza Dhillon set a new junior women’s skeet qualification national record, scoring 122, which also equalled the senior record.

She made the cut for both finals(senior and junior) at the Karni Singh Ranges.

In the men’s skeet final, Bhavtegh Singh Gill from Punjab clinched his first national title. In the women’s skeet final, Ganemat Sekhon triumphed for the second consecutive year, overcoming Asees Chhina from Punjab, who secured silver, while Raiza Dhillon earned the bronze.

The Skeet Mixed Team event saw the Paris 2024 duo of Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Naruka from Rajasthan bagging the gold with a narrow 44 43 win over Mairaj Ahmad and Areeba Khan from Uttar Pradesh, who took silver.

Abhay Singh and Ganemat Sekhon from Punjab claimed the bronze.

Olympian Vijayveer Sidhu is the new Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol National Champion, securing the gold. Paris Olympians Anish finished 22nd.
