The third day of fencing at the 38th National Games 2025 witnessed intense competition as fencers battled for supremacy in the Men’s Sabre and Women’s Epee events.
Tamil Nadu’s Nidhi Gisho delivered a stellar performance to claim the gold medal in the Men’s Sabre category, defeating Oinam Jubraj from SSCB, who secured the silver.
The final score line read 15-12 in favour of Nidhi. The bronze medals were awarded to Vishal Thapar of Jharkhand and Aditya Angal of Maharashtra. While Thapar lost a very close match to the eventual champion 15-13, Aditya was comfortably defeated by Jubraj 15-8.
In the Women’s Epee event, Haryana dominated the podium, with Taniksha Khatri clinching the gold medal following an impressive display of technique and precision, with the score reading 15-12. Punjab’s Ena Arora secured the silver medal, while Haryana’s Prachi Lohan and Sheetal Dalal added to the state’s medal tally by winning the bronze. Both the bronze medallists lost very close semifinals, with the score reading 15-14 in both cases.
