The Indian Women’s football team will play two friendly matches against Myanmar in Yangon on July 9th & 12th, 2024 during the FIFA International window. It will be a good test for blue tigresses to show their skills against a higher ranked opponent.
The recent performances of Blue Tigresses were quite mixed. They had played against much higher ranked Uzbekistan (WR-47) in which the first match was quite disappointing where they lost 3-0. But the last match was a moral win for India where we manage to draw the game with a scoreline of 0-0.
Earlier in the year, during the Turkish Women’s Cup, India registered their victory against Hong Kong (2-0) and Estonia (4-3), though they faced a narrow defeat to Kosovo (1-0).
Before these friendly fixtures, the Indian National women team will undergo a much important preparatory camp at the National Centre of Excellence in Kolkata from 26 June onwards. This camp will be crucial for the team bonding and game improvement.
These fixtures will be a chance to bounce back after a stalemate performance against Uzbekistan. Currently India ranked at 67th position in FIFA rankings so it will be quite an uphill task for Blue Tigresses to edge past 54th ranked Myanmar team.
